What is lurking in your Fawnskin garden?

I got an email yesterday from someone here in Fawnskin who does not read the Flyer. *gasp!* She wanted me to know that she got bit repeatedly by a spider and was admitted to emergency for treatment where they kept her under observation for a while. So, although I covered spider bites in Issue 7, this is a reminder that if you have pain, excessive swelling, or any discoloration–don’t delay–go get checked out. The rash of spider bites is throughout the Big Bear Valley and not just in Fawnskin.

Speaking of Garden Deposits
My neighbors arrived the other day and we had a great meal at a Mexican restaurant across the lake–where we also ran into two Fawnskin residents–Ernie and Carol. They were out with some friends who recently moved off the mountain and were joking about missing the dirty diapers and other such foul deposits that visitors leave on our roadsides and in our yards. *Yuck*

Bear Valley Radio?
My social activities this week have been non-existent except for looking in on a friend who is suffering from back pain so I am not up on all the latest scuttlebutt EXCEPT that I noticed some announcements in town for another radio station. “Bear Valley Radio” didn’t list any call sign or if it is AM or FM on the dial. I heard about them about a month ago and just saw the first flyer two days ago. They are looking for a location as they got the boot from a local bar where they wanted to set up a “Northern Exposure” type of broadcast station. Should be interesting–so if you hear anything please let me know! I do have their number and might break down to call.

Hmmm
I also ran into someone Tuesday. This person really wronged me a couple of years ago. It is hard for me to tolerate liars, theives, sneaks or those without integrity and she fits that description plus more! The amazing thing is that when I ran into her I really didn’t care at all. No emotion one way or the other–which was good since a couple of years ago–when she was behaving badly, it was hard for me to deal with the betrayal and discovery of her “dark side.”

Yvonne
I forgot to let you know that I visited with Yvonne again last Sunday. I took her one of my animal art books. Many of you know that she is a fabulous animal and portrait artist.

She told me that she was able to attend church this last week. Since my last visit the previous Sunday she has weakened but her spirits are really up. She got a blood transfusion that helped her strengthen and she also received a wheelchair to get around. Steve is still looking for help. If you have any suggestions, call Doris at the market (866-9543) as she has their number.

Animals
The coyotes have been boisterious but I have not seen one in ages. The ducklings along the shore have left their mothers and are hanging out together. I love watching everyone in the early morning. This am the Great Blue Heron was in Grout Creek and his image was enchanting. The sun was not up and his big shadow graced the calm lake surface as he caught a couple of fish. I also enjoy watching one little coot who seems to prefer an area of weeds that make a small island just off the shore. She is always there just gazing over the lake in the early morning. Endearing.

The weather was certainly brisk this am. Maybe we will get another heat spell but I anticipate an early fall and maybe even an early and wet winter.

BTW: Capt. John says the lake level has only gone down nine inches this entire season! Hopefully this trend will continue. I’ve heard we should expect more thundershowers again shortly.

Gee, sounds like it bothered you to me. And for someone to see that much said negativity in another person and want to write about it here, speaks volumes about YOU!
