Morning Ritual

Today I was able to enjoy and long walk and meandered down to the marina to meet my a new kayaking buddy. After waiting about twenty minutes I figured I should just head out on my own. Last night Captain John invited me to test the waters—and so I did.

The water is still pretty cold. I saw a bird of prey tormenting a great blue heron—I thought it was the young adult eagle but the undermarkings looked more like an osprey. It was too far away for me to identify and I didn’t have my binoculars. I also spotted some new type of waterfowl. They look like a grebe instead of the mergansers I normally see.
