Fired Up

I got a call early this morning from a Big Bear resident traveling back East. The family was panicked over media coverage regarding the fires burning around us. Strike teams are moving into the Big Bear Valley but there is no immediate threat from the Sawtooth Fire check for updates via the Big Bear Scanner. Here are some links to San Bernardino fire related information and for a historical summary on local fires check here. You can also check on the San Bernardino Mountain Safety Group or the National Incident website provides a really great update resource. California Sawtooth Fire information is available here.

The Millard Fire is expected to merge with the Sawtooth Fire and is in the San Gorgonio area nearest to Cabazon. Read about these fire incidents here.

Although reports are that the fire last night were 7 miles from Lake Williams and 10 miles from Big Bear City this is as the crow flies. Crews are reported to be working strategy from Onyx Peak. Rain and thundershowers are expected later today so pray for rain and in the meantime get your evacuation items in order early and keep them together until fire season is over.

As always be sure to check the KBHR website for the latest news and turn on your radios.
