Notes from Outside of Fawnskin

Hello! I am currently in La Quinta attempting a day off. It is my first day back on the internet after three days. Sheesh! That is a record for this year.

You might have heard about the 43-year-old man who was found dead last week. Rumors that suicide is a possibility are just that, rumors. No conclusions have been made yet–friends grew concerned and had the place checked out and that is how they found him.

Dana Point Park should be open by now. Concerned residents called the park district wondering when it would be open. Hopefully it was open for the holiday weekend.

BTW: Rumor has it that the park district wants to turn part of the Fawn Harbor/Dana Point area into a campground. This has raised concerns about trash, regulation, and trespassing issues. How do you feel about this?

I talked to Angela & Amanda just before leaving town. Their coffee house is scheduled for inspection on the 13th of April. They hope to be up and running shortly after. I suspect that they will be open by May 1st but they are optimistic that it will be sooner than that.

In the meantime, I have been having a blast this weekend. My trip began with a journey to author pal Carol Gurney’s home followed by my appearance as a guest of the merchants at the Olvera Street annual blessing of the animals. If you saw any footage you can see me behind Cardinal Mahony in the procession. The Cardinal took a photo with me after accepting a copy of my new book, Blessing of the Animals…just waiting for the event photographer to send me a copy.

Next, I joined Justin Rudd at the Haute Dog Easter Parade in Belmont Shores. What a hoot. Time flew by since talking with people and snapping photos. 500 to be exact.

The really fun thing was that some fans and people from my past came to the events looking for me! I met up with one woman who took care of me as a youngster. If you want to take a look at some of the snaps visit http://www.blessingoftheanimals.com –the photos will be up sometime after mid-week.

Down here in the desert it is pretty warm already. I am hanging out with my author pal–we’ll do lunch and then it is off to the spa and then home. It has been a fun weekend but I am a bit tired so it is time to relax.

See you in a day or two!
