Harry Potter & Fawnskin Moves into High Season!

Above: GG on the Harry Potter Bus with the bus operator–GG asks, “Are you going on a wild reading adventure?”

So, did you get the last Harry Potter book? If not–you can order it now by clicking the above link or stop by Edelweiss Books or the Book & Bean to get your copy. I met someone who already had their book yesterday due to the big faux pas by Deep Discount.

The family actually received a phone call asking them to refrain from reading the book with promises of a $50 gift certificate and a Harry Potter t-shirt…and it looks like they were honoring the agreement because when we threatened to get into the box it was whisked away…you know I just _love_ to tease!

Yesterday we were down the hill in the smog, traffic, and heat—-a reminder that we live in a great area that most people travel to from all over the world just for a vacation or to escape for a day or two.

Kayaking on Grout Bay!
Tomorrow is the Seda Kayak demo days—if you need more information call Jim or Janet at the North Shore Trading Company the event will be from 10am to 4pm. This year there will be a nominal fee to tour Grout Bay in a new canoe or kayak.

Fawnskin Chamber of Commerce

Next week brings us into the BIG weekend here in Fawnskin. Thursday, July 26, the Fawnskin Chamber of Commerce will hosts a mixer at the North Shore Trading Company. The event will feature food from Amangela’s Café. The whole community is invited to attend—-join us here in Fawnskin at 5pm for food and live entertainment.

Doo Dah Parade in Fawnskin
Saturday, July 28th at 10am will be the annual Doo Dah Parade! Fortunately I am a judge again and get to watch the whole thing from the best seat in the house (the Moose Lodge porch).

Fawnskin Festival July 28-29, 2007
Shortly after (at Noon), the opening ceremonies for the Fawnskin Festival will held in Don Conroy Park (behind the Moose Lodge). Saturday’s participants include the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Posse Color Guard, the annual Woman of the Moose Apple Pie Contest, the Holcomb Valley Boys (music), and animals from the Moonridge Zoo.

This year the festivities will continue into Sunday. Firefighters of Station #49 on Rim of the World Drive is also hosting an Open Fire House during the weekend. Events on July 29th will begin with a patriotic ceremony at 9am, followed by the precious dog show and parade, and entertainment by Catz in the Hatz.

If you have not visited Fawnskin before, drop by for music, good snacks, and interesting vendors. It is a great way to spend the day in between boating, hiking, or bike riding here in the Big Bear Valley.
