You can see how close things were to Fawnskin on Saturday. Hope this is not the last time I see the town looking so bright. Not sure if the gang at the Gold Pan or if Mike at the Fawnskin Market are still in town. They were staying open for firefighters–a long standing tradition for the town.

Just passed info on animal housing to the ICC down in Snow Valley. Also gave them some of the national animal rescue group names for future situations. I need to get ready to head out of town soon. I am taking the computer so if I can get any news I’ll share it but I will be at an industry event and so won’t be blogging so frequently–if at all.

We have not heard much about wildlife. My guess is that animals are probably going to be popping up near urban centers now that the smoke has hit the valley. Use caution since they will be panicked. Most will relocate into other wilderness areas if they are not run over by the flames.

Thank you SOOooo much for the updates on the Butler II fire.

We got turned around on Sat morn, as the evac took place, and since then have’nt been able to get much info on whats happening. The news stations just keep replaying the same older shots over and over again-very frustrating for us looking for updates.

We understand its like a mini war zone on our street (Mohawk) and that everyones very worried, but keeping spirits up as much as possible.

Your info is helping to calm our nerves, as all we want is info.

Can’t thank you enough for this.

Were praying for all our lovely friends and neighbors and the critters that roam our forest.

    Hey Kat!

Actually I have not been able to get an update. Last I heard no buildings have been lost in Fawnskin proper.

They have lots of structure protection teams up there. They’ve been talking about a fuel break they found and also about how the last couple of fire access roads have been helpful.

The houses under most risk are those on Rim of the World where the fire was moving down near the camps and the Grout Creek channel.
