2008 Fawnskin Mayor Candidate: Cynthia Crane

Above: 2008 Fawnskin Mayor Candidate Cynthia Crane gives new meaning to a Post Office photograph!

Cynthia Crane is best known for her work as the Fawnskin Post Master. Once, when I called her Post Mistress, she corrected me and said, “I don’t make the kind of money that a mistress would.”

Funny.

Cynthia arrived to take over the local Post Office in June of 2003. She is known for her tough exterior and for being detail oriented but most locals know that behind the façade is a dedicated person who loves Fawnskin.

Although Crane has only been a full-time resident of Fawnskin since February of 2007, she is no stranger to the valley. Since 1972 her family has owned a cabin over in Bear City. Cynthia relocated from the small town of Silverado (in the Cleveland National Forest) to the Big Bear Valley to become a full-time resident in May of 2000.

She is a proud mom and grandma, too. She has two kids—George who lives in Orange, Californiaand Lauren who lives in Butte, Montana.

Cynthia is a good grandma to Presley (5) and Sydney (2) and it never ceases to amaze me when she remembers the time that has passed since I’ve shipped goodies to my niece and nephews.

A dedicated worker, this woman could have retired (she has 31.5 years with the Post Office) but loves her job and loves it here so she is like the energizer bunny—she keeps going and going…

Her hobbies include hiking, biking, and virtually anything outdoors. This year she has been learning to sail. The story behind her race? Her dad served as Mayor to the small town of Mounds View in Minnesota so she thought it would be fun.

When asked about her relationship with Captain John (yes, I asked because you all are whispering around town) she said he is her best friend.

Cynthia’s fundraiser will be a Poker Party. The event is scheduled for November 30th at 6:30pm. There will be a food, drinks, and prizes. The event will be sponsored by Kathy & Todd Murphy and reservations are necessary as seating is limited.

The minimum donation for the event is $20. To reserve your spot call Cynthia at 909-228-4781.
