Fawnskin’s Old Fashioned Christmas Tree Lighting

Above: GG with Mr & Mrs Claus during the 2006 Fawnskin Old Fashioned Christmas Tree Lighting…there is disagreement as to whether GG has been naughty or nice.

Saturday, December 1st is the Fawnskin Community Christmas Tree Lighting at Fire Station 49 right here in Fawnskin. Thanks to my roaming correspondant for sending me the email (GG doesn’t rate and got taken off the email list):

12:00–3:30 Kids make decorations for the tree
3:30–4:30 Decorate the tree
5:00–Santa arrives
6:00–Tree lighting
6:30–Santa presents gifts to the kids.

Hot Dogs and refreshments will be provided by the North Shore Improvement Association and the Firefighters during the day. This is a great time to get together with all the neighbors in an Old Fashioned Christmas tradition. There is usally music and a good time.

Emergency Siren Testing Saturday
You probably heard that the new sirens located at City Hall in Big Bear Lake, the Big Bear City Fire Department, and at Baldwin Lane Elementary School, will be tested at noon on the first Saturday of each month, starting December 1st.

In real emergenies the siren cycle will blast for an extended period of time. During real emergencies tune to KBHR at 93.3 FM or Channel 6 television for details. During the first Saturday drills please do not call the Fire Stations or the Sheriff’s Department.

Moose Lodge is Cooking with Dennis London
Tonight Dennis London is hosting the “cook your own steak” night down at the Moose Lodge 20085. If you have not been to one, the lodge provides the steak, baked potatos, and salad for a reasonable fee. You marinate and cook the steak on the BBQ.

If you are not a member and want to drop in–you can knock on the door and join! The Lodge is a great community center and does a lot for the community without a bunch of whoopla. I am sure Dennis or Kathy would sign you right up.

Dennis & Kathy are two of my favorite neighbors and were some of the first pals I made here. The two took me under their wings and helped me integrate into the community. I have not seen them much lately as their daughter has been really ill and they have been up and down the mountain. However, I am happy to report that she is doing better and has returned home.

Drop by and support Dennis and the Lodge.

Fawnskin Flood Risk Meeting
Next week there will be a community meeting with Dennis Hansberger’s office and the San Bernardino County Department of Public Works regarding the Butler II fire flooding risks in Fawnskin (too bad they didn’t have it this week as it is pouring outside at the moment). The meeting is scheduled for 6:30pm at the Discovery Center (40971 North Shore Drive).

Aren’t you cute, hanging out with the Claus’. I love the music, especially the ‘Grinch’. with all the fires the alarms system should be helpful.

    Enjoy your weekend. Stay warm.
