Big Bear Mountain Vacation Scrapbooking Tips

Scrapbook Those Mountain Vacation Memories

Many people head to Big Bear for a holiday or vacation in the mountains but did you know that there are people who come up to this mountain resort for a scrapbooking weekend?

Yes, it is true. Apples Bed & Breakfast is famous for scrapbooking vacation weekends. So, when I met Karooch out in cyberspace and found out her passion was scrapbooking, I thought it might be nice to give Big Bear visitors and residents a new idea about how to keep memories of their mountain living and vacations.

Karooch graciously agreed and below her article. You can find Karooch at Scraps of Mind.

So you’ve just returned from that sensational vacation/long weekend up in the mountains.

Your digital camera is bursting with photos of you and the kids throwing snowballs and building snowmen. You even managed to get a photo of that never to be forgotten moment when Junior made his first timid ski run. And what about that sunset over the mountains.? What a stunning photo you managed to capture of that!

So what now? You upload the photos to your computer where they live with the other two thousand you have from other vacations and you never look at them again.

Sound familiar?

This was the story of my life and it used to frustrate me too. I hated the way all my fun memories of a great vacation would fade away once I returned to the reality of everyday life.

And one day I decided to do something about it.

That’s how I became interested in scrapbooking.

Scrapbook Those Big Bear Vacation Memories

At last here was a way to bring all my best photos, the highlights from my holiday journal and some of the little bits and pieces like those ticket stubs that you always seem to bring home with you, together in a format that I could enjoy over and over again.

My very first scrapbook was of a special vacation. I had no idea what I was doing. I just bought some bits from a scrapbooking store and started putting the album together. And I was amazed at what I was able to create.

Apart from the buzz of actually creating something that was good to look at (who knew I had it in me?), I love being able to sit down with that album and relive all those memories. And slowly turning the pages while I read the scraps from my journal and look at the photos, sipping something relaxing and soothing, makes me feel as if it were just yesterday.

Now that’s what I call getting good value from a vacation! Being able to live it over and over again.
