Hi GG, we are obviosly talking about different cars, but same make...The Lexus(white) in my group was in a driveway, not in a roadway, I don't think Garden Place has a double yellow line being such a small street as it is...so the only way that you have passed this Lexus is only if you would have went inside the house at 39326 Garden Place....which has an ordinance posted on the house:4 cars only and 11 guests! ...Sounds like a Fawnskin ordinance.....

@SKIMODE: Sorry to say you were misinformed. This area is _county_ not city and so none of those regulations (like you experience down the hill or in Big Bear Lake) apply that I know of. Unfortunately, we do not have any "off the street" parking. Our streets go from edge to edge except in rare where there might be a turnoff. The Lexus did in fact block the uphill lane. I personally walked by in the morning, and later watched cars swerve over the double yellow line to pass. Since I use the road for walking and driving, I also watched two cars miss collision at the curve not too far beyond where it was parked--fortunately the cars could see each others headlights...you know, GG sees all, hears all...and pretends to know it all, too. ;-)

GG, we had a Lexus in our group! We had four cars total
and the last one in the driveway was a Lexus, but it
was at least 4-5 feet away from the street......
First I was told "OK to use the garage" but arriving at
the property the garage was locked and I was told "Sorry, but the owners don't allow it!"....
It look like the city ordinance allows 4 cars in the driveway.....

@Skimode: Thanks for dropping by. So it probably wasn't your group that had the Lexis that was illegally parked on Garden...Not all visitors are lousy. We don't have many bad ones over here BUT it is a rampant problem throughout the area which is why so many locals want the laws and the enforcement of those laws. We respect the right of individual property owners IF they adhere to the same laws as everyone else renting places. And, I am glad to hear that your rental company stressed the importance of adhering to the local laws.

@David: Silly boy! Maybe Debbie has subscribed and will get your message. Are you still in contact with all the Mtn Social Links gang?

I have just visited Fawnskin, in a rental property on Garden Place and I would like to tell you that, even though, we were a group of 14, with 6 kids, everyone was well behaved and I was told repeatedly, by the rental agency that no "house" parties are allowed and the noise level should be down after 9pm....
I love your community and I understand your rights to protect it, I would do the same.
I respect the people living in the mountain communities and I hope the same respect is returned, even if we don't have the priviledge of living in your area.

Wow, I am really disappointed to hear about your experience. Big Bear tends to be very dog friendly and there are some great places to stay. Thanks for sharing your experience...I know we sometimes get too into the locals' experiences but most of us were visitors at one time too.

As a "flatlander" from Orange County who reads your blog consistantly I felt I just had to comment on this issue. My husband and I visited Big Bear regularly-at least 6-8 times a year. Last year we were blessed to rescue a sweet german shepard and decided to take him with us to visit. The place we ususally stay does not allow dogs so we searched the internet and found what appeared to be a nice condo called Orsi's Den located just past Boulder Bay area. We arrived after dark and discovered there was no front porch light. We also discovered the front door lock was broken and you could just push the door in. Unfortunately this was just the beginning of what we discovered inside. The inside was filthy, old rotten food in the kitchen, caked on food left in pots and pans, the rug was so filthy we had to constantly have shoes on and the mold on the walls required leaving the windows open so air out the stink. Too bad we bought light bulbs for the inside lamps-it would have been better to not see the condition of the place. Anyway-I emailed the rental agency describing the conditions and advising them of our dissatisfaction with the rental. They never responded. The only response we got was several months later they sent us an advertisement. I guess the point of this is it's not just your local residents who have been "wronged" by the rental industry up there. My husband and I are responsible people, have a well behaved dog, love the Big Bear area but are now reluctant to come up there with our dog again.
