Jim Hall Memorial Trout Classic

The Jim Hall Memorial May Trout Classic brought in rainbow trout from 5 to 7 pounds on the first day of the two day event. Anglers scored the fish from boat and shore by trolling and bait fishing. Conditions were ideal with air temperatures reaching 77 degrees and the surface water temperature at 57 degrees.
CD-07 Rapalas and Thomas Buoyant topped the hot lures of the day. Greg Boll and Alan Sharp (owners of Big Bear Marina) landed the 2nd and 4th place fish in the Classic on the first day. Greg’s fish weighed in at 6.81 pounds and Alan’s was 5.21 pounds.
Greg’s trout hit a Rainbow Rapala, flatlined on mono, while Alan’s took a red and gold Bouffant at two colors of leadcore.
According to Alan the fishing will remain strong into June with a lot of trophy sized fish in the waters of Big Bear Lake. The fish are up and down throughout the water column, so be sure to vary your depths and lure selection as well as color.

$6000 purse, NICE, I see plenty caught some decent trout in this one. I hope to be at the next one. 5 to 7 pound trout isn’t bad at all AND to get some cash while fishing, what can beat that? NOTHING.
