Big Bear Fishing Report

Alan Sharp of Big Bear Marina reported that numerous trout from 4 to 6 pounds hit the scales this last week. Local angler Scott Eberhard of Big Bear Lake got top fish of the week and month honors with a 7.02 pound trout caught off Boulder Bay. His big rainbow hit a Dick Nite spoon trolled on flat lined monofilament. Scott will receive a gift certificate and Eagle Claw products.

Another local Bob Lischke of Big Bear Lake landed a 5.82 pound bow while flat lining a CD Rapala in the rainbow trout pattern off of Lagonita Point.

The cold weather last week is that it brought the surface water temperature to an ideal 56 degrees and oxygen is plentiful throughout the water column from East to West. The trout continue to hold in large numbers from the observatory to Lagonita Point. This trend should hold until the water temperatures rise.

Fish are on the surface down to 15 feet. Trollers are catching fish on flat lines lures, as well as down to two colors of leadcore. Bait anglers using a slip bobber system with Nitro and nightcrawlers suspended at that depth will get the best results.
