Fawnskin Fun & Not So Fun

Several times a year the mountain communities have awesome yard sales and this weekend was no exception. I scored a fountain at the Moose Lodge Yard Sale to help drown out the noise coming in from the bar in town but they had lots of great items and it is always a good time to catch up with the neighbors and other Moose Lodge members.

Anyway, I decided I needed more quiet time and headed over to Running Springs where the community pooled their efforts and held several yard sales near each other. I just love the coffee house/restaurant and had a great time visiting the locals.

To say  it was hot for the area is an understatement. I stopped by a pal’s home to visit and later HM and I headed down to the Moose Lodge for the BBQ.

The BBQ seemed slow in comparison to other years but it gave us the opportunity to catch up with those we know and those we are getting to know.

Many locals are not going to the Victorian Festival based on their experiences of the Pirate Faire–it will be interesting to see how it turns out.

Finally, neighbors up for the first time since the new restaurant and bar have opened were a bit shocked at the noise. One mentioned that he could not hear it from his house (our homes block the noise) and was surprised at how loud it was.

In fact, for your enjoyment–hear what some neighbors hear EVERY Friday and Saturday night. The house is not near the restaurant and bar but around the bend up on the hill.

We are all waiting to hear what those neighbors have to say who really live close to the place.

Funny thing, there was a sheriff down the block–he was focused on traffic violations not noise. I know that one neighbor called in a complaint twice–so my question is why is law enforcement not enforcing the noise ordinance?

Yes, yes–we know it is a holiday weekend, but folks, this has been going on EVERY weekend since the end of May. How would it affect you?

Oh brother! If it is that annoying to people, how is it affecting the animals who have no idea where this is coming from, or what threat it poses? It is definately a nuisance.

I would take it up with the Board of Supervisors.

It might be possible to get some action by taking your noise complaint to the ABC. A case could be made that their true intent is to operate more as a bar with entertainment, than as a restaurant that happens to serve alcoholic beverages.

This is a quote from the owner’s post at socalmountains.com forum topic on Northshore Brewery:

“On another note we are always open to help and suggestions as we strive to be a local friendly resturant. My name is Ben and I am the owner and almost always there and available to talk. Please let me know anything and everything we can do to serve you better if we need too.”

He probably realizes that the odds of having a decent money-maker at that location strictly as a restaurant are pretty slim. As a ‘Chad’s North’, who knows?

Feel sorry for you and the neighbours.
Too bad the owner is not more cooperative.

@Cricket: The regular waterfowl and coyotes near my place are no longer there at night. I noticed they moved out more to Windy Point and over toward Mohawk.
@Uncle Bill: Thanks for the tip. I know that there are several things taking place at the moment. Just an FYI: the manager is the one who posted and his word is not worth anything. He wrote that here on the Fawnskin Flyer and told me directly on the phone that they would work on fixing the problem. However, he told other people a different story and is NOT amiable to cooperating with the neighbors. I just hate people who say one thing and then do another.
@Steve: Thanks, the owner is not returning calls. The manager is also avoiding calls. It is too bad because they could have a huge local following if they were not so disrespectful of those of use who live here full-time. Several of us will spend our money elsewhere.

I live over on Sioux Dr. across from Pedersen Mill and every Weekend I can hear the loud music and loud voices, which always sound like they are fighting, when I go upstairs to bed at night. By bedroom window faces towards the fire station and the bar. Sometimes I turn down my television because it sounds like someone is fighting. I moved from down the hill to get away from this kind of obnoxious noise and now it’s up here. I wonder who is going to this restaurant, is it Fawnskin locals or other riff raff.

@countryfawns: Yes, the noise is a problem. I was told that everyone that is having a problem needs to keep reporting the disturbance to the sheriff so that it is documented and hopefully will motivate them to enforce noise complaints by making the disturber tone it down.
