Big Bear Fishing Report

Big Bear Fishing Report by Alan Sharp
It’s the dog daze of summer and the rainbow trout bites on Big Bear Lake are spotty at best.
Water temperatures and oxygen levels remained the same in the western third of the lake and the fish are there, they just aren’t on the bite.
The fish that are coming in are being caught in the late afternoon and early evening.
Leadcore trollers going down two and a half to three colors with small spoons in bright rainbow trout patterns and nickel backs have landed the majority of the trout.
Bait anglers with slip bobbers rigged at fifteen to twenty feet with Nitro and Nightcrawlers suspended below have seen a few too.
Catfishing remains good in the East end of the lake. Fish off the bottom with shrimp, mackerel, or stink baits for singing drags and bent rods.
