Big Bear Fishing Report

Big Bear Fishing Report by Alan Sharp.

There were mo significant changes on Big Bear Lake this past week. It’s the dog daze of summer and the rainbow trout bite on Big Bear Lake is spotty at best.

Water temperatures remain high and oxygen levels are low in the western third of the lake. The fish are there, they just aren’t on the bite.

The fish that are coming in are being caught in the early morning and late afternoon.

Best strategies? Leadcore trollers going down two and a half to three colors with small spoons in bright rainbow trout patterns and nickel backs are landing the majority of the trout.

Bait anglers with slip bobbers rigged at fifteen to twenty feet with Nitro and Nightcrawlers suspended below have seen a few too.

Catfishing remains good in the east end. Get a catfish off the bottom with shrimp, mackerel, or stink baits for singing drags and bent rods.
