Big Bear Fishing Report

Big Bear Fishing Report by Alan Sharp.

Rainbow Trout fishing continues to improve on Big Bear Lake. A Department of Fish and Game plant of quality bows has resulted in one and a half to two pounds being landed.

An algae bloom while putting a green sheen on the water has increased oxygen levels and provide forage for the fish.

Water temperatures are uniform from top to bottom and the lake will soon turnover as night time temperatures go down.

Lead core trollers going down to 3 colors have seen limits of fish to 2 pounds.

Time of day is less important now that boat pressure has fallen off and oxygen levels have improved.

Bait anglers with slip bobbers rigged at fifteen to twenty feet with Nitro and Nightcrawlers suspended below have also gotten some quality fish while anchored or drifting the lake.
