Biz Buzz & More

Above: GG is slacking so if you have the scoop on this vehicle–let me know.

East Side Book Cafe

This Saturday (October 25, 2008) the EastSide Book Cafe will close for good. The store is selling the rest of the inventory of books for only $1 per item so if you are looking for some good fireside reading material drop by.

Business Buzz

The Big Bear Book & Bean just switched locations with Sothebys Real Estate and is now located at 634 Pine Knot Drive. If you are looking for the Kenai’s Korner, they will be opening over on Village Drive in the Village Three Mall. The interior construction is still underway and it may be a few more weeks until they open.

Ram from the Himalayan Restaurant is over in Nepal and will be back in about two week. Suzanna and Kesar Bhandari (his sister and brother-in-law and co-owners) are running the place in his absence but the food is outstanding as always.

Over on Village Drive to the East of Pine Knot (in the old scrapbooking store) is a mattress outlet. I have not been in yet–so those of you who have–fill me in.

Fawnskin Post Office

Rumor has it that the current temporary postal employee (Mike) is going to be at the Fawnskin Post Office until sometime in January. As many of you know there have been a lot of problems there. Yesterday the system for processing everything was supposed to be up and running again.

Locals have been complaining about how filthy the place is and about the service as related to the inability to process orders except by cash. To voice your complaints you can call 1-800-ASK-USPS not the other Post Offices in the area.

As a post-script to your story of the large number of political signs in the valley, I do agree that we sure have them in abundance.
I will be curious to see which ones are remaining on November 7. Those are the people that should never be allowed to run for office again.

@BadBear: Yes, some of the candidates are leaving signs on empty lots and other places without permission. I removed a few from my neighbor’s place. I certainly won’t be voting for them and think that if there are any remaining signs that they should be fined by code enforcement. The word is that ce is not enforcing anything at the moment.
@Sharon: Thanks for the update. It is nice to know that they can use the damaged vehicles for training.

Oh, Sharon beat me to it. I was going to say it looks a lot like a training vehicle from my old days as a volunteer.
