So, how about this recent cold snap? I guess it is a good thing we turned the water off last month despite my reservations about doing it so early.

I built a fire and then finally broke down and lit the fireplace–winter is on the way and it is time to admit it.

Many of the locals I’ve talked to have broken down and turned on their heaters as well. I tend to be stubborn an refrained but the fireplace only can warm the place up to a certain degree and now I have to put up the faux double panes.

Older cabins tend to be drafty around these parts. Most were not built for full-time occupation but for holiday or short escapes.
