Bradley Winch Honorary Mayor Candidate

Once again the Honorary Mayor Race of Fawnskin is upon us. Fawnskin makes no apologies about buying our politicians.

However last year’s Fawnskin Mayor’s Race got a few hackles up because the “one time service” rule was ignored to allow Don Gino to win the race again.

However, the whole town is involved in this project that raises money for the needs of our small town, and as has become tradition, the Fawnskin Flyer will cover each candidate for your convenience.

Bradley Winch has been a Fawnskin resident since 2002 but has made this town his home since 2004.

Born in Elkader, Iowa, he eventually moved to Detroit, Michigan where he earned a PhD in Organic Chemistry. This adventurer then spent a year and a half in Germany doing a post-doctoral fellowship but eventually returned to Detroit.

Soon, he found himself serving as an exchange scientist in Moscow but soon returned to the United where he returned too Michigan to work for General Mills.

While there he also completed law school before coming to Los Angeles to work for Mattel, Inc starting their educational products division.

But in 1971 her left to begin a publishing company whose focus was to develop and publish activity-driven books to help students (K-12) develop social, emotional and ethical skills.

Although Winch sold the educational publishing company in early 2004, when he arrived in Fawnskin he and his wife started another publishing company called Personhood Press which publishes books on spirituality, relationships and parenting for adults.

Winch is married to Cathy and the two have three kids (Lisa, Brad Jr, and Angela) and seven grandchildren who all live in California

Still on a quest for knowledge, Bradley returned to school after moving to Fawnskin and was ordained as a Minister of Spiritual Peacemaking.

Bradley also contributed to Chicken Soup Stories for a Better World which was published in 2006—many locals attended the book signing at Moose Lodge 2085.

When asked about his passion. He said that he is interested in peace, justice, equity and fairness for all beings.

In addition his goal is to help children and adults understand what living from the “inside/out” is all about, that life is great all the time and, finally, that you can always “make it a good day” because the choice is always yours.

Locally Bradley sits on the advisory board of Friends of Fawnskin and is a member of the North Shore Improvement Center. He also serves as treasurer to the Bear Valley Center for Spiritual Enrichment.

Bradley enjoys living her in Fawnskin because there is a lot of sunshine–and he can often be seen walking his dog, Shyloh around town. He also enjoys the commitment the community has to the different causes around the valley and happily enjoys socializing with like minded people within the growing spiritual community and the camaraderie at the Moose Lodge.

Most people do not know that Bradley served as the Southern California Regional Director for Les Amis du Vin (friends of wine).

Bradley’s goals as Honorary Mayor are to work tirelessly to preserve the assets we have here in Fawnskin. In addition he would like to build on them so that visitors to the valley can experience “all” that the valley has to offer, including the quiet, natural beauty of Fawnskin.

If elected, his first official act as mayor will be to appoint his dog, Shyloh, to the position of Vice Mayor.

There will be three fun-draising events for the Bradley Winch for Honorary Mayor Campaign

I find it funny how some people in this town would rather try to create drama behind the scenes rather being up front about any issues.

FYI: Below is a copy of the section of the bylaws from the NSIA regarding the Honorary Mayor race.

Despite the tradition of one time service in the “position” until Gene Cyr (at least according to the locals who remember such things) there is actually no limit on the term served outlined.

I also find it bizarre that there is not limit on the terms of the officers either.

    Election of Honorary Mayor

Section 1. Three (3) candidates for honorary mayor shall be nominated from the membership by the Board. All nominees must give their consent to the Board prior to the placement of the election boxes.

Section 2. The candidates for mayor must be a resident or property owner in Fawnskin and maintain current membership status.

Section 3. Official duties of the mayor shall include the Christmas tree lighting, Bear Valley Prayer Breakfast [name change only], entry in the Doo Dah Parade and Old Miner’s Days Parade, and all other duties representing Fawnskin as deemed appropriate by the Board.
