Still Gone…Upcoming Events

I am still going to be down the hill this week so I thought I would fill you in on some upcoming events...

For those of you who are Moose Lodge members, drop by the lodge to find out about any Thanksgiving activities. I haven’t been able to attend in the past couple of years but they are a great time to get out and mix with neighbors and pals.

On Friday, November 28th at 4:30pm enjoy the live entertainment, carolers, and of course Santa & Mrs Claus for the Big Bear Village Christmas Tree lighting. If you have not attended before, the festivities center around the corner of Village Dr. and Pine Knot Ave. For more details call (909) 584-1066 or 909-866-4607.

On Saturday, November 29th The Discovery Center and the San Bernardino National Forest Association (SBNFA) present the snow sports movie premier of Under The Influence at Northwoods Resort. Screenings will be at 7pm & 9pm. There will be door prizes at the premiere and all proceeds will benefit Forest Aid, an SBNFA fundraiser for forest restoration. Doors open 30 minutes before start time. Tickets: $10 adults, $5 Children 12 & under, Free for Children 5 and under. Tickets on sale at the Big Bear Discovery Center, Northwoods Resort, or Goldsmiths. For more details call (909) 382-2790.

Also beginning November 29, 2008 is the Kiwanis Loves Kids Christmas Tree Lot in the Von’s Parking Lot. The Christmas Tree sale will operate daily from 10:00 AM until dusk through Christmas Day. For more information please call (909) 584-3419.

The 15th Annual Big Bear City Fire Department Christmas Tree Lighting at Big Bear City Fire Dept will also take place on Saturday, November 29th at 5:00pm. For more information please call (909) 585-2362.

Tuesday, December 2, 2008 will be the fundraiser for Dennis London. I have not heard back from candidate Dave Hough but you can click here to find the rest of the Honorary Mayor Race information and events.

On Friday, December 5-7, 2008 the 4th Annual Big Bear Loves Chocolate tour will be valley wide! For more information on the festivities please go to or call (909) 584-1066. Both of the Fawnskin Bed & Breakfast establishments (Windy Point Inn & Inn at Fawnskin) will participate on December 6 from 1pm – 4pm. (Some B&Bs will offer a 10% discount on lodging for this weekend.) Get the B&B Chocolate Tour list here.

Local kids should drop by Amangela’s Sandwich and Bagel House in Fawnskin on Saturday, December 6, 2008 at 8:00 am to join Santa & Mrs Claus for Breakfast with Santa! Bring your own camera for pictures with Santa. Call the gals for reservations and to find out the cost for breakfast at (909)878-0015.

Later on December 6, 2008, stroll over to Fire Station 49 in Fawnskin for the 10th Annual Christmas Tree Lighting and events that begin at 3pm. Kids will make decorations from 3:00 to 4:00pm and then will help decorate the tree until about 4:30pm. Santa & Mrs Claus are expected to arrive at 6:00pm and then the tree lighting will take place at about 6:30pm. Refreshments and fun are guaranteed!

On Monday, December 8, 2008 at 5:00pm the Soroptimists of Big Bear invite all the ladies to the annual Christmas Auction at Northwoods Resort. I went last year and it was a great time. Call for reservations at (909) 585-8618.

Friday, December 12, 2008 at 5:30pm Saint Joseph’s Catholic Church will hold the Our Lady of Guadalupe Celebration Mass and Procession Dinner. For more information call (909)866-3030.

You can still have breakfast with Santa at Nottinghams Restaurant and Tavern at 8:00am on Saturday, December 13, 2008 be sure to bring your own camera for pictures with Santa. Call (909) 866-4644for reservations and fees.

Saturday, December 13, 2008 at 10:00 am kids can enjoy Bowling with Santa at The Bowling Barn. Please only ages 4-10 only who must be accompanied by an adult. 1 FREE game including shoes. You can also get a picture with Santa. Reservations required (909)878-2695.
