Bad Behavior

Now don’t get too over excited about the title of this post…I am not bringing back the bad behavior column on a regular basis.

However, last week’s events just really made me realize that it was time to revisit such musings.

Where do I start?

How about the poor decision to post a sign outside the convention center that said, “Thank You President Bush…God Help Us Now.”

If you missed that one you can catch a glimpse of the sign and read the article about it here.

Geezuhs, what were you thinking?

Uh, ever hear about FactCheck.Org or Snopes?

Historians actually think that the label to describe Bush will be “incompetent.”

Perhaps you missed Eight Years In Eight Minutes?

And don’t get me started on those who are not very respectful of President Obama around these parts…let me remind you he is President of the United States with an 83% popularity rating.

Okay, enough about that…how about that County Assessor, Bill Postmus?

Postmus, 37, has been under investigation since last June. He was arrested last Thursday at 7:10 a.m. on suspicion of possession of methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia.

Nice.

You can see his booking photo and more details in this article or this article.

In other news…how about that snow?

Someone changed the sign on the voting booth. When I was in the South, there were lot’s of them that read “Redneck Voting Booth”. They always had a good turn out.

S.B. County has a rep throughout the nation as being one of the most corrupt. People get lazy and don’t hold to account their elected officials. We get what we allow! I still wonder who else that D.A.’s investigation will ensare.

@BadBear 🙂 Right, redneck voting booth would be an appropriate title…you should see the surroundings that I cropped out.
@mtngram Yes, SB County has that distinction and we lead the state in unemployment ratings just check it out:

We realized early on that we were moving into an area that was soundly conservative. Seems counter intuitive since the past eight years have done so much harm to individuals and small businesses. But I grew up in rural western NY and am used to it. Looking at the run down condition of the village in many areas, they should be welcoming any change that is coming along. For the woman quoted in that article to claim that “God help us now” was just them offering prayers to our country was laughable, and the usual defense offered. Guess we just misunderestimated that sign a bit.

@PTLarry Yes, there are a bunch of people who make excuses for their bad behavior around these parts–laughable if it wasn’t so ignorant and bigoted.

Is there a group in the Valley that can pull together some volunteers who can clean up the run down buildings on the Blvd? That would be a great start. That internet place next to Butcher’s looks really run down and the city lets it look that way, yet the city puts so many road blocks out there for other businesses. What’s up with that?

Recently I read that our school district will need to cut about $900.000 from their budget to make ends meet.
I also read that our fire department will receive about $200.000 in the form of a grant for a fire truck simulator.
Both I might add are very worth while projects.
I do agree that there is some areas of excessive spending on our, as most school districts, perhaps reduction of non-essental expences could be made, and the tax dollars that are about to go to the fire department could be diverted to the kids programs at our schools.

@BadBear Just put in the toll road and generate more money from visitors…this county is a mess…which is why we have the honorary race for mayor to raise funds for needed projects.

G.G. As usual, raising money is not an issue, government always finds a way to raise money.
The issue still remains how they spend it, once they get their hands on it.

@DL the buildings are private property. Code enforcement is the governing agency for such matters and I believe a complaint has to be filed but the BBL code enforcement seems to be more interested in harassing business owners for minor violations.
@BB SB County is supposed to be one of the most challenged counties as far as funding. Spending sense seems to be an issue with many these days. How about that bailout money recipient and the new plane?
