The Honorary Mayor’s Race for Fawnskin is heating up as the candidates begin planning their fundraisers for the esteemed position for 2010.

Team Stearns share a love affair with the Big Bear Valley living here full-time since 1994. Chuck is a retired Lt Colonel, United States Air Force reserve while Helen is a retired paralegal.

They love the picturesque beauty of the Big Bear Valley and moved to Fawnskin in 2004 and have been involved as volunteers in CATS, DOVES, and the Discovery Center.

Other volunteer activities include Girls’ Softball, Run the Bear Marathon, Big Bear High School’s theater productions, PAC theater productions and regularly participation in the North Shore Cleanup.

Some of their favorite activities include sailing, cycling, walking.

Helen and Chuck Stearns aka Team Stearns have planned the following fundraisers:

November 10, 2009 (Tuesday)
Mexican Train challenge with hors d’oeuvres, libation, dessert and money prizes.
$25 per person, minimum but feel free to buy more votes!

December 8, 2009 (Tuesday)
Casino night or more Mexican Train (if requested), with Chuck’s famous chicken soup and Helen’s matzo balls, other edibles, libation, dessert and money prizes.
$25 per person, minimum but feel free to buy more votes!

The duo is keeping things secret so the time and address will be provided when they receive your reservation. They advise that anyone interested respond ASAP as space is limited.

If you are too busy to attend but still want to help local community organizations and vote for Team Stearns, please support the campaign by making your tax deductible donation check payable to NSIA (North Shore Improvement Association).

Include “Stearns” on the memo line and indicate which event(s) you will be attending or whether your check is strictly a contribution to their campaign.

Please mail your check to Helen and Chuck Stearns, Post Office Box 267, Fawnskin, CA 92333.

If you are a local or visiting Fawnskin during this race you can vote at any of the “ballot boxes” found throughout town in the businesses.

Quarters are standard votes but you can toss as much as you want into the voting boxes.
