Storm? What Storm?

snow filled driveway

Above:  Snow filled suspended driveway is a concern.

So, imagine my surprise when I awoke to find no additional snow and sunny skies! We all know that the weather forecast changes quickly around these parts and we seem to have a reprieve until tomorrow night.

This is good news for most people who are still busy attempting to remove snow and ice from around their properties and on their roofs–not to mention those nasty ice berms looming over the entries to most homes.

Next door, my neighbor got some help with the massive accumulation around his home and on his decks.

Down the road, I worry about the suspended driveway aka bridge into a home currently under renovation. They had a butt load (thank goodness this had nothing to do with low pants) of contractors working there but nobody arranged for snow removal.

So, six large trucks blocked half of the street because of it.

Further down the road, on Mohawk, I came upon a Verizon truck making the rounds to fix many of the downed telephone lines. I was glad to see it because we folks around these parts can’t really tell the difference between those downed lines and don’t want to investigate either!

Herb stopped me a while back to thank the Fawnskin Flyer for taking photos and complaining about the non-plowed road in the triangle.

The complaining non-news got the head honcho from the road department to come up and made some calls.

If you notice, the little road has been kept clear for all to use and will diminish any flood threats.

Now if you could get all the equipment operators to clear the drains and drainage channels we’d be doing super.

(Yes, yes, GG wants it all and sometimes is a demanding little so-and-so but it is for the greater good!)

Anyway, I thought Herb’s news was great, plus Herb’s family now has the direct, private cell phone number to the road guy who said to call if they have ANY problems.

Life is good in Fawnskin.

BTW this weekend is snowshoe the bear and Super Bowl Sunday. If you want a great visual of the game, Moose Lodge 2085 has a HUGE screen plus two other smaller televisons for viewing.

Now you have to be a member to get in–but you can also join up if you come by and ask!

Tonight there will be both Women of the Moose and Loyal Order of the Moose meetings at 6:00pm. The lodge will also be serving up hot dogs for a buck and tomorrow Kevin will be serving up his famous beef dips and super burgers.

Thank you for mentioning my dad again, and yes, I was able to get in touch with the proper folks to get our little street plowed from now on, I am an investigator by trade so just had to put in some work to get it done, but please, if you would publish, I have sworn not to give out any names or phone numbers by order of the Head Honcho, or I threaten future plowing of the street. Politics, I guess..

Yes, your dad was very impressed. LOL holding the snow plow hostage for silence? Guess the county has not changed as much as we thought even with the new county supervisor.

So glad that you were able to get that done. Your dad was just gushing about it!
