Fawnskin Weekend in Review

Above: MS Walk by Correspondent Rick (See More)

So I missed the MS Walk but correspondent Rick managed to take enough photos to document the day.

When I ambled down to Moose Lodge 2085 the crowd for dinner was light but I imagine I was a bit too early since the neighbors managed to car pool down.

Seems that most people were worn out by the walk this year and the crowd was lighter than in the past–wonder how much of it has to do with the road closure.

I pretty much stayed home most of the weekend but ambled out now and again.

Lots of neighbors were up and everyone seemed to be working in their yards or on their homes.

The Stephens were up working hard and I actually had a nice tour. (They have this unbelievable fire place mantel which I hope they will let me take a snap of and share it with you. )

Chet had lots of trouble this winter but things are working well now.

Randy and Jerry were up and the house is looking good in spite of the tree going through it. There is still a bit of work to do.

Dennis was ambling about in the garden without Midnight’s supervision.

Nacho and Hope were up working on their house and I got to spend some time with them.

The big highlight was hiking up the creek with Shadow.

I took lots of pictures and video–and then on upload did not check, and well, you guessed it, I cleared the cache in the camera and did not find them on the computer.

So guess we have to go hiking again!

It was a bit precarious due to the snow and the melt. I had to hike quite a way up Grout Creek until I found a downed tree to climb over.

There were a lot of trees and branches down from the storms and the trail angels will need to clear the main trail for hikers.

Also, I had to use caution before ambling over any snow accumulation. Run off has made underground caverns and you can break through the snow up to your thighs if not careful.

At one point I had to use my hiking boots to strike through so I could safely move over to the next exposed ground.

Shadow had a ball. She ran and ran and ran.

She foraged the creek.

She flushed quail and sniffed around to her hearts content.

Dogs know how to party!

We got to the cabin up near the bridge over Grout Creek (which has a couple of the railroad ties collapsing) and I was sad to see that the deck was down.

Looks like someone took it down rather than simply collapsing because it was off to the side.

However, in all the years I’ve lived here I’ve only seen the owners up a couple of times.

The tree house platform is still intake–but looking worse for wear.

Someone has been through with a snow plow and it was interesting to snoop out the tracks in the mud.

When we got back to Shadow’s house, she was supervising but decided she just might try and follow me home for a minute.

We do have to go out again.

I have to say that we were only going to the post office but sometimes a gal has just got to hike!

Then there are those that just gotta fish!

Thanks on the kind words–worked thru the weekend and too late to get down the hill for work , so we did the grueling 4am run this am-yuk yawnnn..
lucky for us we only saw 2 other cars on 38 going down this am so it was at least a nice, open, cruise down the hill with one eye open–hehe

Swing by anytime (yur always welcome) and snap pics to show others what great deals are available up here–we love the mantel we scored at Interiors. Always snoopin for a good local bargain to doll up the cabin.

Ok great seeing you–and keep workin on your healing process and well see you in a few weeks.
