Monday Morning in Fawnskin

So, I am still out celebrating my birthday but have to say the actually day wore me out.

I’ll save you the details but have been having an amusing time with all the smarta** fun people are having with me.

Snoop Sister Deb awarded me with a few gifts–her favorite being the giant remote.

You see, it comes from the menopausal brain stories I like to share.

When I was so sick it used to make me cry but now that I am well on the way to recovery I just laugh and shake my head and tell stories on myself–because what are you going to do?

It is what it is.

When I asked, “Why has nobody told me about this before?”

The answer came quickly, “Because they forgot!”

LOL

You see what I mean? Lots of smart mouths surround me and I think it is a prerequisite for living here.

So, now that you are dying to hear about the story…

One night I turned off my miniature television (cuz I don’t watch much tv it is very small) on my way to bed.

Now I can work the television without the remote but I can’t get the local station channel without it.

The television skips right over it so the remote is an essential item.

Hmm…

Anyway, wheen I arose, I searched high and low but could not find it.

Now my cabin isn’t that big so it was pretty annoying.

So, let me explain, in GG’s world the way the menopausal brain works is that not only don’t I remember things, but also the connect between the eyes and the brain sometimes seems to break or misfire.

I can look directly at something and not see it–and then later it magically appears.

Magicians would love me.

Yes, yes, there are a lot more stories that lead up to this theory but I am only telling the one.

Anyway, I was over at Snoop Sister Deb’s and lamenting over it and how the remote was probably right in plain view.

However, it was three days before I found it.

And, sure enough, I was standing in front of the heater and simply turned my head to gaze over at the bookcase–and right on top of it was the remote.

*sigh*

Such is life.

Anyway, there have been a few more incidents like that and I usually joke with Deb about it.

Also, she is SO kind that when I could not find the notepad to leave a note at her house and had to rummage in the desk–she didn’t mind.

In fact, she gently guided me on one of my next visits–prompting me to observe.

As she finished writing a note, she said to me, “watch closely.”

As I watched, she nestled the notepad behind the phone right on top of the desk–along with multiple pads that have probably been sitting there for ages.

The key here is that it was on top of the desk I rummaged through to find the notepads.

To make matters worse, there were multiple pads sitting there.

*sigh*

Anyway, such is my life at the moment.

So, back to my birthday which I am still celebrating and am on day five…I want to thank those of you for making a fuss over it and me.

Over at the Buddhist Meditation Temple I received a lot of birthday wishes and blessings from the monks.

How many people get blessings for their birthday from monks?!

I was happy to see Pia at the ceremony and had lunch with her.

She and Ron were up for a quick trip and are enjoying 70 degree weather out in Las Vegas.

The little temple is always bustling with great news and amazing visitors–and this time was graced with the presence of two nuns who were visiting from India.

I was so glad the weather was exceptional for the celebration.

Attendance was lighter than usual due to the recent snow fall and the road closure but I am always happy to reconnect with some of the regular supporters.

A few days ago I took this snap of Ajahn and one of the monks preparing for the day.

However, their hard work was blessed and rewarded by the fact that it was one of the warmest days so far this year on Thai New Year.

In fact, because of this almost all Fawnskin residents were out visiting on their decks and working in their yards or gardens.

It was actually about 60 degrees and I was almost too warm in my layers.

Hope and Nacho were up again and Barbara was out shooting hoops at the park with some other folks.

Lots and lots of people were down at Grout Creek enjoying the antics of the trout.

Now, the best part of my walk was that I was also showered with presents everywhere I went–and a shout out to Carol who proved to be the most creative.

She saw Snoop Sister Deb in Big Bear Lake and sent her card and surprise with her.

🙂 Thanks very much BTW. I am glad you love reading the Fawnskin Flyer.

This week is going to be an interesting one with another storm that may or may not hit the area.

As for me, I missed my doctor’s appointment due to the snow. Friends told me I made a good choice to cancel the journey due to the road conditions and visibility issues.

So now I need to find a ride to get down to Arrowhead Regional and the clinic before Friday.

If you can help me, please leave a comment (they are private until I approve for posting).

In the meantime, enjoy the nice weather.

I am betting that G.G. is a great one to hide Easter Eggs for. Too bad it only comes once a year. On second thought, it may take her 12 months to find 12 eggs.

Gawd BadBear, you don’t have to hide anything–just leave it out and I am bound to not see it! LOL
