Fawnskin Paddle Fest
The third annual Big Bear PaddleFest will be held this weekend at Captain John’s Marina/Fawn Harbor. The event is both for paddle enthusiasts and those new to the sports of paddling.

Pre-race activities for Saturday, July 10th include on-water clinics for beginner and advanced paddlers taught by local kayak instructors, boat demos with Emotion and Seda kayaks, an outdoor-industry sports exhibit with Smith Optics, USARC, FRS, John Wayne Cancer Foundation, Big Bear Vacations and more.

New this year will be the presence of and clinics by Hobie Stand Up Paddleboards.

PaddleFest races scheduled for Sunday, July 11th are open to all levels of paddlers. There will be 10K and 5K canoe or kayak, tandem or solo races.

New this year is the addition of a 30K around the lake race and the 10K and 5K SUP races. There will also be a Kids’ Fun Paddle which is free for 12-year olds and under.

A brand new Emotion Glide kayak, donated by Woolrich, will be raffled on Sunday.

Fawnskin Campfire Programs (Discovery Center)
This weekend there will also be campfire programs at the Fawnskin Discovery Center’s Amphitheater.

Tonight (Friday, July 9th) will be a skit by the youth volunteers about an imaginary trip into the forest and learn about the forest critters.

Saturday night will feature Native American storytelling by John Three Hawks.
