Non-News of Fawnskin

Okay, this is going to be short and sweet.

Tonight is the NSIA potluck at Captain John’s Marina. The event will start earlier than normal due to the temperature and the guest speakers who are candidates for the local school board.

Arrive at Captain Johns at 5:00pm if you want to visit with neighbors. The potluck will start at 5:30pm and the speakers will begin doing their thing at 6:00pm.

The Conquer the Bear ended with the final race, Endure the Bear on Saturday.

Our local entry (our soon to be famous, Hope) finished the race and is gearing up for the Snowshoe the Bear next.

A couple of us hit the village but I have to say that we found that it was very quiet and we spotted only a few vendors set up near the race start/end point.

Jordan Romero was signing more books after the race too.

So, if your are looking for a great holiday present–the Book & Bean is stocked up with quite a few copies!

Caltrans will close Highway 18 again (Big Bear Dam area) from September 19-24, 2010 from 10pm to 4am for more repairs and work.

Keep this in mind if you are arriving late so you can take an alternate route via Highway 38 through Mentone or Highway 18 through Lucerne Valley.

That’s it for now but you’ll be glad to know that Eileen sent another history piece which I hope to have posted this week.
