Adventures in the Air

Adventures in the air have not been something GG has experienced lately. I mean seriously, GG is grounded (except for commercial flights) and it would have been nice if I had some sordid reason for it!

At one time I was a brave adventurer and got into any cotton pickin’ little thing that, when viewed taking off later, I would have never climbed into if I had seen it take off before getting my ride!

So GG is feeling a bit left out these days. You see I never get invites to fly.

That could be good or bad since flying can be a bit precarious around these parts for a variety of reasons. I remember when a couple of my pals actually crashed and reports were that they were decapitated in the process.

Ewuh! But facts is facts….

Anyway, when I first moved to town I hung out with the coffee crew on Sundays. Most everyone there had been taken on a flight with Andy at some time or another. But not GG. I kinda felt left out that I never got invited but then I never invited myself along–so guess I shouldn’t be shocked about it.

Not too long ago I was chatting with another passenger as we waited to board the aircraft. We were lamenting about missing the old Ontario Airport with the outdoor luggage carousels. Plus, we reminisced about having to board and disembark out on the tarmac!

Traveling by air is fair enough it you are close to an airport but from here it is a pain mostly. Why? Well, it takes about the same amount of time to hitch a ride on a plane as it would to drive somewhere based on the fact you have to commute down the mountain, sync the transport and then get their early to go through security.

My last trip was not too much fun since I left at 11:00am and arrived at 1:30am the next day. The return was equally as horrid since we had to get up at 4:00am and I arrived back here about 3:00pm or so. Seriously, next time I am doing things my way and not letting people talk me out of sensible options–like getting a hotel room and a rental car.

Now back to the Fawnskin Folks that were having adventures in the air this weekend…

Andy and the boys took a trip on Saturday to Rubidoux but he an Rita took Sunday down head down to that nice little rustic town of Julian.

Funny, when you think about it. You know, leave one small town for another–but then I like Julian. They also have a great wolf sanctuary there–a real one that does some amazing things and conducts training for professionals on restraint and handling.

Anyway, I spent a lot of time watching movies and staying in this weekend but managed to get online where I read about this Bob guy taking a couple of other Fawnskin folks out.

Hmm, now that I think about it, it might have been THAT Bob. You know, the one I turned into a Mexican one time by having a typo in his last name?!

That’ll teach me.

*GG paces back in forth restlessly as she thinks about it.*

So, in essence, it has been fairly quiet around these parts. I didn’t feel up to going to the memorial for PC but heard that the event took place instead of the monthly yard sale the lodge was planning. It is hard to lose someone and since the Conroys are an institution around these parts I figure it must have been quite the turn out–I’ll let you know what I hear.

In the meantime, I am researching into the best mobile technology options around these parts and need to drop by to see Andy and chat with him about that cell tower. T-Mobile is the other company scheduled to start up shortly. In case you had not heard, AT&T put in a bid to acquire the company and the acquisition is expected to be finalized in March of 2012 but the two best services up here seem to be Verizon and Sprint.

In the meanwhile take the poll below, have a great week and enjoy the nice weather that moved in because it is likely to change!
