Hwy 330 Update

So, I received an update on Highway 330–which has probably changed due to the recent weather. My cousin drove up and had a terrible time with the fog, rain and rock slides during her return to the flatlands yesterday.

Caltrans, Skanska, and SEMA Construction report that they are making steady progress restoring State Route 330. With an estimated emergency repair estimated to be at a cost of $23.5 million.

Dr. Ray Wolfe (District 8 Director) reported that the progress on the emergency repairs on SR-330 is well ahead of the earlier estimates that varied between 1-2 years. As of May 2, 2011 the groups were anticipating being about to open the highway to traffic before the 4th of July holiday.

In addition, the groups are gearing up to see if they can at leave open the highway for the Memorial Day weekend. Dr. Wolfe continued as he acknowledged the hard work and dedication of those working together to expedite the process.

Now GG was glad to hear that they reminded everyone that a great deal of work remains–so basically, don’t hold your breath! Caltrans has promised to release more updates on the progress and notify us of any changes as warranted.

In the meantime, the temperatures have once again dropped and the snow and sleet yesterday seemed to thwart some of the best laid plans.

GG is back and catching up with a variety of tasks–so I’ll be back with more dirt news mid-week!
