Fawnskin Hot Bed of Activity

fawnskin ren faire

Fawnskin mountain lake resort is a hot bed of activity this week!

I already posted a few of the events taking place in my last post but there are other events here that I didn’t mention.

Some day people are going to realize that cross planning means you have less competition but if you are looking for something to do with minimal commutes–this is the weekend to be in the mountain lake resort of Fawnskin!

Fawnskin Renaissance Faire
Although popular with many folks, the Renaissance Faire is something some locals dread due to the traffic and parking issues faced by those who live near by the Pedersen’s Saw Mill.

The Faire takes place Saturdays & Sundays August 13th, 14th, 20th, & 21st, 2011 from 10am until 6pm.

  • Adults: $15
  • Adult Weekend Pass: $26
  • Adult Season Pass: $50
  • Seniors (55+)/ Military & Students with ID: $12
  • Children 6-12: $12
  • Senior/Military/Student/Child Weekend Pass: $20
  • Senior/Military/Student/Child Season Pass: $38
  • Children 5 and under: FREE

If you’d like to take a gander there are some nice Ren Faire photos online.

Fawnskin Chili Cook Off
Captain John has been holding out on me (but what is new?) and I discovered that there is going to be a Chili Cook Off down at Fawn Harbor aka Captain John’s Marina this Saturday, June 13, 2011 starting at 1:00pm. They flyer photo has all the details and the phone number if you are interested.

Discovery Center Theater
The Big Bear Summer Theater Festival at the Discovery Center is happening again Friday and Saturday night starting at 7:00pm. The production of Clarence Darrow is a visit with an American lawyer that highlights early America and of a man who was at the forefront of many legal battles. Tickets are $10 for adults, $5 for children but kids under 5 are free. All proceeds will benefit the Discovery Center and the San Bernardino National Forest Association.

Car Crazy
A few locals are excited about the 22nd annual Antique Car Club’s Fun Run. It starts today (August 12) and continues through Sunday, August 14, 2011. The Fun Run is a busy weekend and I knew I should have taken some snaps earlier today. Lots of activities include a car show along the streets of Big Bear Village and the popular Fun Run that cruises through Fawnskin later in the day on Saturday.

Correspondent Rick is likely to be on hand in an unofficial capacity but he willing helps GG out–but no pressure there guy!

As for GG…I’ll be going bananas with some friends! Thanks to suspect Barbara (from down the hill) for the bananas–if it wasn’t you someone better fess up about leaving them. A big thanks ‘cuz there is a big bunch of crazy people that it was just perfect for!

GG says, “Go Bananas this weekend!”
