Furry Fawnskin Residents

Above: Bella is the newest Fawnskin furry resident!

So, this weekend went to the dogs–at least for me anyway. One neighbor called me the local dog whisperer when she introduced me to some neighbors I had not met before.

Her dog Holly stayed down the hill and it was comforting to learn that–since I was concerned over her absence.

I noticed it right after I learned that one of our local dog pals passed away recently.

Heidi will be missed but I hope that Bella helps the household with the healing process. It always takes a long time to recover from the loss of a pet.

Dakota, a young golden retriever will start her training this week and I am hopeful about hiking with her so I can get that stamina back.

But mostly, I just visit my furry friends during my strolls since I currently don’t maintain any pets of my own.

One of my favorites is this handsome chocolate Labrador retriever named Bear. Our strolls to the park are fun but he kept me amused playing ball toss.

Seriously, we tossed the ball back and forth for about 40 minutes or so. He’d roll it, toss it, hit it with his nose with amazing aim and I’d toss or roll it back.

It gave me the giggles and he seemed to like that.

Now truth be told, most of my time has been spent writing on deadline but I always manage to take a couple of breaks to visit the local dogs.

Lately, I’ve been across the lake a whole lot so it was nice to spend some time locally. Especially up on my deck.

Now I bring up the canine clan since not too much is happening around these parts.

However, this week is a furry fundraiser on the other side of the lake.

Kat Blanc asked if I’d mention the pup-eroni pizza night which will benefit Bear Mountain Dog Rescue (BARC).

So here are the details!

The event will take place, Tuesday, September 20, 2011 from 4:00pm until 8:00pm at Village Pizza at 40568 Village Drive in Big Bear Lake.

All you can eat pepperoni pizza is $6.00 per person. Drinks and side dishes are extra.

You are also invited to bring donations of dog food, treats, and bedding for dogs needing homes. Those that do will be entered for a chance to win a door prize.

Adoptable dogs will be on hand and remember, all donations are 100% tax deductible.
