Notable Fawnskin

Fawnkin Second Place Winner

So the big news this weekend was that Fawnskin’s Hope Guzman placed second in the Endure the Bear 5K for her age group. Smiles were big as this mighty gal completed the entire Conquer the Bear (Cub) series.

Hope took home a nice medal, got her moment on the platform, and also got a pretty hefty bear paw placard.

Dave Emig also competed but withheld all the details from GG and I missed getting a snap–but maybe the mention will earn him a cold one anyway. 😉

Fawn Park Open

Fawn Park was filled with people, mostly queued up for the chow line on Sunday. Now GG had something more pressing to do than attend–but locals filled me in.

BTW If you happen to have some pictures of the nifty outfit the park owner was wearing be sure to send them over.

The park gates are now open and so let’s see if they stay that way.

American Association of University Women

Sunday was the perfect day for a fundraising event for the Big Bear AAUW. Women in the Arts donated their time and talent to support the scholarship drive to send some of the local young women to Tech Trek.

Fawnskin was heavily represented by AAUW Co-President Kathleen Harper, author Rita Robinson (who was the biggest hit of the event) and author Diana L Guerrero.

The event was well attended and Carol Bremer informed me today that all the scholarships were funded successfully.

So congratulations to all the women who pulled together to make this happen and kudos to all the supporters who gave of their time, talent, and treasure!

GG – I noticed in your post on the 12th the picture of the horse looks like it’s on the property next to our home on Brookside (our house is getting the new driveway, yeah!).. We were just up there on the 5th and there was NO horse. Does it look like the horse is just “visiting” or is this the horse’s new home? Also, do you know if it’s legal to have a horse on your property in Fawnskin? The lot seems small for this….

I am relieved to say that the horse is gone now and I hope it was only visiting. Your driveway is certainly coming along and they were pouring today again!
