Big Bear Renaissance Faire

Once again it is time for the Big Bear Renaissance Faire here in Fawnskin. Held at the old Petersen’s Saw Mill, it attracts an entertaining crowd.

The faire will take place August 11-12,2012 and August 18-19, 2012 from 10:00an until 6:00pm.

You can see Queen Elizabeth’s Royal Court some jousting knights, history encampments & demonstrations, and find both food and drink.

There are usually belly dancers, jugglers, musicians & singers too. Plus, there are vendors and an area for the kids to enjoy.

Tickets can be purchased at the gate or online.

Miller Park Clean Up

The big news around town is that there is another park clean-up. Never mind that GG and other locals pick up poop and other stuff on a regular basis–this one is official.

The clean up of Miller Park will take place on Saturday, August 11, 2012 from 8:00am and for more information you can call Helen Stearns at (909) 866-2003.

Antique Car Club Fun Run

Starting this Friday, August 10, 2012 it is time for the annual Antique Car Club Car Show & Fun Run.

Lots of people look forward to this event every year and one of the best spots to see the cars go by is at Moose Lodge 2085.

Usually the antique cars cruise through Fawnskin around 4:00pm on Saturday.

NSIA Monthly Potluck

Monday is the monthly NSIA potluck down at Captain John’s Marina & Fawn Harbor.

Gathering starts at 5:30pm and munching starts at 6:00pm.

Bring a dish and bring a neighbor.

Going Postal Still

If you didn’t write concerning the threat to the Fawnskin Post Office. I also added the USPS District Manager’s info.

Write a letter using the information in Fawnskin Going Postal.

Tropical Birds & Fawnskin Folks

Fawnskin Folks Flew the Coop

GG neglected to inform you about two of our local Fawnskin Folks who flew the coop and ended up on Maui.

You could say it was for the birds…as you can see in the picture–they are animal lovers.

The big highlight of the trip?

They rescued a kitten and ended up with a personal behind the scenes tour of the “Boo Boo Zoo” which is currently not open to the public.

Known officially as the East Maui Animal Refuge, it has a great story.

So go take a look and know that Fawnskin Folks always make an impact where ever they go!

Local Olympian Ryan Hall

Finally, the community of Big Bear is asking for a show of support for Ryan Hall’s marathon run on Sunday, August 12, 2012. It actually starts at 3:00am Pacific but will begin airing at 6:00am on NBC.

Around Fawnskin, T-Shirts with Ryan’s photo are being displayed and you might have noticed all the flags flying around the valley.

Part of this is because the Lighthouse project and other agencies are asking everyone to fly their American flags and to wear red, white and blue as a statement of support.

That’s it for this week’s TOT.
