Meteors Plus | GG’s TOT
GG Got to view one meteor but apparently in other parts of the valley there weren’t clouds in the way for viewing. Thank goodness someone filmed this popular event.
Boo Boo Zoo
So, Snoop Sister Deb shared the update on the kitty she and Mike rescued in Maui.
The little kitten was named Colleen. She has been to the vet for vaccinations and de-worming and is reportedly, “adorable, healthy and playful.”
Not yet two pounds (or maybe she is by the time of this writing) she is living with five other kittens who are living in the den and having a good time at the Boo Boo Zoo.
In case you missed the rescue story, Colleen was rescued from the jaws of a pitbull by Mike and Deb while they were on vacation.
Cowboy Gathering
The 13th Annual Big Bear Cowboy Gathering will take place this weekend from August 16-19, 2012. The Gathering kicks off Thursday night. Evening shows are held at the Performing Arts Center on Friday and Saturday Night.
There will be an outdoor mercantile and family fun Saturday afternoon and Sunday. On Sunday, you’ll find Cowboy Breakfast, Cowboy Church, and much more.
The main highlight? GG thinks it is the fact that Fawnskin’s Duke Michaels is performing from 6:30 till 7:00 on Saturday night.
Call (909)380-1871 for more information.
Fawnskin Ren Faire
The Big Bear Renaissance Faire takes place again August 18-19, 2012 from 10:00an until 6:00pm at the old Petersen’s Saw Mill.
Art on The Lake
Hard to believe that it is time once again for The Arts Council event at the Marina Resort on August 18-19, 2012. Head on over as there is always an amazing assortment of talent and different creations of all types.
Electrical Rates
As you can imagine, the Monday public comment session was overwhelming against another electric rate hike. Personally, I don’t know how they get away with charging different rates for part-time and full-time residents while they also fail to support alternative energy rebates.
If you missed out, written comments can be emailed to public.advisor@cpuc.ca.gov. If you prefer you can write a letter and send to: Public Advisor’s Office, California Public Utilities Commission, 505 Van Ness Ave., San Francisco, CA 94102.
RIP Ron Seymour
You may have already heard that Ron Seymour passed away this week. He was one of the first people I met in the valley. We met when I was a columnist for the Super Shopper, then owned by his son.
Over the years he was involved in a variety of business pursuits but was known mostly for his media identity of Round Town with Ron and was a popular figure in the Big Bear Valley.
I don’t have a lot of details on plans for services but watch for updates in the local media.
That is it for this week’s TOT. I’ll be back on Tuesday!

Yes, they are cute. Ron had a long battle and it is a great loss.
