Going Postal Again

Postmaster FawnskinPost Office Community Meeting
If you have not received a survey about the Post Office changes being considered, please fill out the survey when you next visit the Fawnskin Post Office. They should be available today (September 11, 2012).

Mark your calendar since an official community meeting will be help on Wednesday, October 17, 2012 from Noon until 3:00pm at the Post Office (39132 NS Drive, Fawnskin).

The POST plan will be discussed and results of the survey will be shared. Final decision about the office will be made sometime after the public meeting.

Options being considered (the brief version):

  1. Keep the office open, based on actual office workload. Estimate for Fawnskin is that hours would be reduced to six hours per day with Saturday hours to remain as is.
  2. Conduct a discontinuance study for the office and offer roadside mailbox delivery. Retail and delivery service would be provided through a rural carrier. Mail delivery points will be established and customers can purchase most postal service through the carrier or other alternate access points.
  3. Conduct a discontinuance study for the office and find a suitable alternative location operated by a contractor, usually at a local business.
  4. Conduct a discontinuance study for the office and provide PO Box service via another nearby Post Office and relocate PO Box delivery there.

GG votes for option #1 but be sure to voice your opinion by filling out the survey and then attending the meeting.

Mark you calendar now!

If you missed the letter writing addresses find them in Going Postal.
