Singing, Tragedy & Storms

Pie Day

GG was nestled in for the night when she heard Christmas Carolers down on the North Shore.

But the singing was not the tragedy I was going to mention…in fact, it might have done me some good to have joined them.

Alas, I missed out.

One participant speculated that some people closed their curtains when they arrived in the vicinity–but GG thinks that happened as a coincidence…unless they were sick of the same song over and over again.

Jingle Bells can get old…

Dog Gone

Tragedy hit down on Mohawk and Navajo when predators grabbed one of the Fawnskin pet dogs from inside the fenced yard.

We are all saddened by the loss.

This is a reminder that with the increased snow load, predators have easier access into yards.

Don’t forget that we live adjacent to the wilderness and predators prey on animals of all types.

Making sure your animals are in can help but locals know that pets face risks in lots of situations. It doesn’t really matter whether or not they are on leash, on a deck, in a yard, or loose.

To prevent loss, supervise your pets at all times and avoid letting them out on the deck, porches or yard during times when predators are most active–dawn, dusk and nightfall.

Cookie Time & Pie Day

In case you have not heard, cookies and treats are being shared down at the Fawnskin Post Office this week.

Don’t forget, Pie Day is Friday, December 21, 2012 from 10:00am until 4:00pm.

Pie, Pie, Me Oh My!

Moose-ical Success

The Moose-ical held at Moose Lodge 2085 was a sell out and a great success.

Many locals attended and those who participated were happy but tired from all the work associated with the production.

Congratulations!

Alas, GG asked for photos but none were shared.

Stormy Weather

GG survived the last trip down-the-hill after over a foot of snow fell.

It was stunningly beautiful but the ride home was horrific.

Normally I don’t travel after a storm until 24 to 48 hours have passed and this was a good reminder to why I don’t.

Vehicles attempting to chain up, nasty wrecks, downed power lines, people’s cars sliding over or slamming into others were only a few of the things we witnessed.

Ultimately, we arrived safely back in Fawnskin after a slow two-hour journey.

Use care when traveling this time of year and check the weather report frequently since the last two storms have come in earlier than expected.

Finally, Happy Birthday to Hope.

Hope is a huge supporter of the Fawnskin Flyer and tips regularly but that isn’t why I like her so much–she is a great, upbeat person.

Although she is celebrating off the hill, it will be a good excuse to celebrate again when she comes back up.

Okay with you Hope?

That’s it for me, should be back on Thursday!
