Fawnskin Fire Revisited | GG’s TOT

Fawnskin Fire

Things have been hot around Fawnskin, as of Monday afternoon the containment of the Fawnskin Fire was 60% with estimates that it will be out by Friday.

GG was listening to the scanner early on and winced over some of the information. A Washington plated vehicle was initially reported in the area.

I heard the plate number and the initial guesstimate as to the cause–a campfire.

It was a bit disconcerting to see the burst of flames hit the trees, I was a bit slow getting the video up and running but you can see some of the blaze through the tree tops.

Fawnskin Fire

We like fire fighters in Fawnskin but they certainly needed some coffee the other day and were lamenting over how to get a good hot cup.

Tthe Fawnskin Market’s hours are currently 9:00am until about 7:00pm right now.

Laurie told me that will likely be extended at the beginning of May to perhaps 8:00am to 8:00pm but as most things small town, just wait and see.

GG thought it was funny that they asked me where they could get a cup of coffee when they were right across the street from the Gold Pan whose “Open” sign was blazing in its neon brilliance.

However, understanding the desperate need for early morning coffee, and the fog that sometimes hits because of it, I politely pointed out the restaurant and urged them to go in for a java jolt.

Thinking about it on my walk later, I should have told them that Barbara and gang are particularly nice to fire fighters.

‘Cuz everyone knows they are.

Early morning ambles through town are good because you can catch the action first hand.

A whole lot of fire fighters and related crews were on hand each and every day.

New crews arrived Monday morning and were not certain of all that was going on but the fact that I could no longer see plumes of smoke was encouraging.

As of this morning, the Fawnskin Fire containment has been increased to 90% with full containment and control expected Friday evening.

In the meantime, the triangle tends to be a happening place.

If you were wishing for a little action around here, seems that you got it!

Hawaiian Vacation

Where’s Mike?

If you are thinking of panicking over the absence of Post Master Mike–stop it right now.

He took off for a vacation and Pam is filling in this week.

The adventure to Hawaii is going to be a tour of multiple islands and his first trip on a jetliner.

GG is such a slacker, she forgot to tell him to send photos!

Fawn Park

Fawnskin happens to have the most parks of any area around the valley. There are four to be exact.

GG has not been into Fawn Park in a long while but on a recent amble I spotted something horrifying.

How scary is that baseball player?

The original one, speculated to have been stolen, was reported to be at the home of the park owner.

That one was nice but this one could give you a fright.

There have been a few more additions to the park, GG was happy to see the large tire put in the park instead of remaining outside on the easement.

And then there is this…

Which is probably appreciated by all the visitors who need to find facilities.

Just when folks think there won’t be anything else added–more stuff appears.

Rumors are that a few bets are circulating around town as to when it will be so crowded that nobody will be able to enter the playground.

That’s it for today’s TOT. Back at ‘cha Thursday.
