Bicycle Classic

Highway 38 Closure Today

The Stage One Time Trial of the Redlands Bicycle Classic will take place on the North Shore this Thursday, April 4, 2013 from 9:00am until 5:00pm.

The Redlands Bicycle Classic is a prestigious world class four day road cycling race that consists of professional men’s and women’s cycling teams that come from all over the United States to compete.

The event includes a nationally recognized paracycling race for people with diverse disabilities. The Big Bear Time Trial (actually in Fawnskin) will be an individual race where cyclists complete against the clock.

During the time trial, cyclists are competing against the clock.

North Shore Drive will be closed from downtown Fawnskin to Stanfield Cutoff.

The specific closures include:

  • North Shore Drive to the East Boat Ramp back to the turn around at the Fawnskin Triangle.
  • Highway 38 aka North Shore Drive from Fawnskin to Stanfield Cutoff.

Residential access will be via Navajo, north of North Shore Drive and West of Canyon.

Limited access will only be by police escort and limited to the west for a few minutes around the following times:

  • 11:00am until 11:10am
  • 12:15pm until 12:25pm
  • 2:30pm until 2:40pm

GG will be down the hill for medical stuff that day but the word is that residents should plan to stay home or away for the entire day.

NSIA Potluck

Once again it is time for the NSIA monthly potluck this coming Monday, April 8th from 5:30pm until about 7:00pm.

The speaker for the evening will be “Sarge” (Karen Sargent Rachel) of the Community Arts Theater Society.

All Fawnskin residents are invited to bring a friend, a neighbor, house guest, etc., and something to share.

It is always a good time and there is always good eats!

Plan on arriving at 5:30pm at the Old Miller School House located at 1178 Chickasaw Lane in Fawnskin.

So the cinder sweeps were back in town today and the word is that Fawnskin is scheduled to have the roads paved throughout town in June.

At the moment I don’t have any confirmation but stay tuned–and if it is true, that is good news.

Bee Woman

So, GG got the name of a local honey gal. I can’t give out her information yet but she will be at the Farmer’s Market on Tuesdays!

Great news for those of us seeking local goods.>>
