Doo Dah & Other Stuff

DooDahApplication2013

The Doo Dah Parade will take place on Saturday July 27th, at 10:00am. Entry fee is $10 per group if you want to participate.

Just click the image above to print the entry form…and don’t blame me, they sent an image instead of a PDF or document. If it doesn’t work for you, head down to Moose Lodge 2085 to grab one.

Check in will begin the day of the parade at 9:00am at the corner of Navajo and North Shore Drive and that is where you’ll get the line order assignment, just follow the crowds to get in the queue.

Now a bunch of folks have missed the Fawnskin Festival and they’ll be glad to hear that this year there will be a “Big Bear Moose Festival” that will be held behind the Moose Lodge 2085 in the Don Conroy Park.

Word on the street is that there will be vendors, food booths and entertainment.

For further information contact Wayne Parker 909-556-1567 or email ponderosawayne@yahoo.com.

You can also head down or call Moose Lodge 2085 at (909) 866-3013.

BOBs Babes on Boards

Thursday evenings are hopping down at Captain John’s Fawn Harbor & Marina.

Women of all ages come down to learn how to stand up paddle board. The potluck is for women only, so leave the kids and dudes at home.

The big news is that Captain John’s Marina Big Bear is serving the south shore.

The concession is at McDill’s Swim Beach where water enthusiasts of all ages can rent stand up paddleboards, canoes and kayaks.

If you have not been out on the water yet, GG recommends it. I’ve been out a few times now, still working on the stamina but have my permit and hope to be spending lots more time on the water.

Grout Bay is warm and the weeds are a bit bothersome but it is always nice to be on the lake and enjoying the long summer days.

Fleet Addition Captain John's Marina

I mentioned that I would share the info on some of the new fleet additions down at Captain John’s and above is the new Duffy–this snap was taken the day it arrived.

She is now in the water and if you want to enjoy a nice boat tour without any engine noise–both the Rosebud and the Serena deliver a fabulous boat tour experience.

Captain John’s has the reputation of focusing on more green activities on the lake so you won’t find asphalted roads or fuel for sale but you will find a great view of the wildlife sanctuary and a less chaotic pace than at some of the other marinas on the lake.

Alright, I have more to share but I am tired from the hike today…

Bear Dog Hike

Above is the view I get of Bear dog when we are out.

Part of it is my fault because I make him hike in front of me.

We got back a little while ago and he is napping and I am thinking that is a good idea!
