Fawnskin & Beyond

Fawn Lodge

So, the Big Bear Grizzly just published an article on the Fawn Lodge¬†and to tell you the truth, GG didn’t like it.

Chatting with the owners would have been better in my book and I’d would have liked to hear what our Fawnskin History person had to say instead.

Oh well, at least the story was written by a local. In case you didn’t know, Katie Portie moved to Fawnskin a while back.

The Fawnskin Flyer has written about the history of the Fawn Lodge a couple of times and, if you not aware, the FF has a whole series on some interesting snippets about Fawnskin History.

Fawn Lodge History

Postal
GG headed down to the Fawnskin Post Office yesterday and found Layney at work.

In case you forgot, Deanna is off for a few days due to some weird process that has to happen each year where she takes a break and then comes back.

What I found disturbing is that there is currently no point of sale process in place to track sales.

This means no receipts and puts the revenue tracking at the Post Office back into the dark ages.

Businesses need receipts and keeping track of how the little office is doing is critical for our small town.

November Sale
GG will be clearing out a lot of items in November. So watch for notices around town as well as in the Big Bear Yard Sale group on Facebook or Big Bear Buy, Sell or Trade group.

Help BVCH
Bear Valley Community Hospital is asking for votes to qualify for funding.

Watch the video above and go over to vote by entering your email address here.

Once you enter your email, click the verification link in your email inbox. Once you do that, all you have to do each day is to drop by and simply enter the same email to vote again.

The video is super cute and was feature on the KTLA news. They need a ton more votes so please take a minute to vote for BVCH Pink Glove Dance here.

So tired of hearing rumors about Fawn Lodge. For starts we were there from 1945 to 1971 and there was never a divorce, and now divorce after we moved off the hill. I don’t know where this comes from but it has been printed before and I have let you know, but somehow it keeps appearing. I guess people like assuming the worst. Also, dancing was on the third floor. I could go on, but won’t. Have a good day.

    Enjoy reading you column, Judy

Thanks for dropping by Judy. I’d love to have you talk with Eileen the local historian to get things straight, or to chat with you myself. Glad you found us and always good to connect with other Fawnskin Folks past or present!
