NS Tavern Etc.,

North Shore Tavern

So, GG marched right on down to the North Shore Tavern this week to get you the scoop on the activities that have been happening down near the empty restaurant location.

Imagine my surprise to find Mike Giebel, owner of the property below the party perch.

It seems he has acquired the lots adjacent to the NS Tavern but not the business building.

You might remember him as the owner of the prowler that met its demise a few years back.

Mike has been up for a bit and was scoping out his newest property additions with a mind on assessing just what type of sustainable work or business might benefit the town.

Believe it or not, GG was held hostage and interrogated by Graham Smith of Altius until she confessed all that she knew about things Fawnskin.

Quite frankly it was disturbing how much she disclosed, but then again she always is up for a chat and would love to see the downtown revitalized.

…so maybe I exaggerated a little bit on the hostage thing, but they did pick my brain for a long while and Mike owes me lunch (at least) when he pops back up.

Heh, heh, heh…how do you like that subtlety? NOT!

The good news is that the trio present were kicking around a lot of ideas that would not only be good for the environment here, but also for the economy.

I’ll let Mike fill you all in as they progress.

My take? It is likely going to be a huge project that will take a couple of years to complete–if they are lucky.

North Shore Improvement Association

The monthly NSIA potluck will take place this Monday, November 11, 2013 at the Old Miller School House located at 1178 Chickasaw Lane in Fawnskin.

The social will start at 5:30pm and the potluck will begin at 6:00pm.

NSIA invites all Fawnskin residents to join in this Thanksgiving feast complete with all the fixings.

North Shore Improvement Association will provide ham, turkey, dressing, mashed potatoes, gravy, and cranberry sauce.

Attendees are asked to bring a favorite beverage and a dish to share to compliment this Thanksgiving celebration.

Coffee and tea will be provided.

Accompaniments are welcomed and the following are suggested:

  • Appetizers
  • Relishes
  • Salads
  • Hot Vegetable Dishes (sweet potatoes, squash, etc.)
  • Dinner Rolls and Butter
  • Desserts

NSIA is continuing the tradition in collecting donations for the third annual food bank effort.

Canned goods, non-perishable (shelf stable) and non-expired items (beans, rice, noodles etc.) are needed.

Dig through your cupboards and help fill the bin but cash donations are also welcome.

Board members will determine the food bank charity and provide the delivery.

GG is not sure if she will attend but will definitely be there in spirit.

Fawnskin Flyer?

Locals have been asking what will happen to the Fawnskin Flyer if GG moves out of town.

Sadly, at this time, I have no idea.

In the past, I have asked others to contribute without luck.

At the moment, thoughts are to morph it into the topic of high altitude living instead of Fawnskin centric, but I won’t make that decision until closer to the end of November.

If you have an ideas or suggestions, chime in via the comments.
