Smithsonian Exhibition at the Discovery Center I mentioned that several of my artisan pals will be exhibiting with a national organization last week. The Smithsonian, “Inspirations from the Forest” will be on exhibit at the Discovery Center beginning February 16-26, 2006. Open daily from 8:30am until 4:oopm be sure to drop by. There will be special artist workshops on the weekends so don’t miss it.
Say hi to some of my pals included in the exhibit: -Laura Janes who does some fabulous tree, leaf and environmental paintings. -Paul McMillian whose fabulous furniture includes chairs, lounges and lamps. -Dea Early who is a wonderful pottery maker and also teaches the craft locally.
Just a reminder that tonight is the community potluck at Miller Park. It is a great way to get the latest news and catch up with neighbors PLUS you get to sample some tasty treats made by all your neighbors.
BTW: I just read the Grizzly article on the lights that will be removed in Fawnskin CSA 53B. If you didn’t see the article they are:
North Shore Drive at Juniper Point Hwy 38 at W. North Shore Drive Hwy 38 at 39997 North Shore Drive Hwy 38 W of Greyback Hwy 38 W & E of Cherokee Drive Hwy 38 W of Rim of the World Drive Hwy 18 at Gray’s Landing Hwy 38 at Pine Oak Lane Rim of the World Drive at Mohawk Drive Rim of the World between Sioux Drive & Arapahoe Road Mohawk Drive at Hopi Lane Commanche Drive E of Navajo Street Lodge Road at Crags Drive Flicker Road E of Chinook Lane Stanfield Cutoff at North Shore Drive North Shore Drive at Bear Loop
BVES also has one that they apparently don’t know where it is and another four not at intersections.
Pray that we get selected for the extreme makeover and get some solar operated lighting in town during a revamp!
This week I was surprised to receive a few tidbits via mail. You might remember my horror when I discovered that my former publisher put out a similar title to my upcoming book and how my agent and I discussed how to turn the lemon type news into something good. It looks like this may have paid off.
First, they used my endorsement on the cover (edited) but on the front inner flap they also included a photo of the book and sales blurb. Their new spring catalog also features the book below their new release. Keep those fingers crossed since this should spark increased sales again.
Dam Incident Courtesy KBHR “Highway 18 is closed between Big Bear Dam and Boulder Bay after a tanker leaked fuel at 9am Saturday. Over 1000 gallons of fuel spilled. The road will remain closed for maintenance and clean-up. CHP Sgt. Jeff Newsome says the closure could last for two days. He suggests using Highway 38 along the North Shore as an alternate route. “
Street Lights During breakfast this am the Fawnskin Chamber President discussed how the street lights in town will be deactivated. It is the first I have heard about this. The cost for maintaining the lights is high and apparently the reason for the decision. Call Andy at Fawnskin Realty for more details.
