Okay, I keep getting questions as to when I am going to post. I’ve been really swamped with work projects and just want to remind you that you can always post without me!

I didn’t make it to the DOVES walk today and wonder if any of you showed up to support the effort. Let me know if you did.

What I did discover is that the Big Bear Politics website will be launching soon. I’ve heard scuttlebutt about this for over a month. The place will be a forum for all residents, candidates, and political animals to post and chat on topics near and dear to their hearts.

Speaking of which…What do you think about all the letters to the editor regarding the private home rental issue? What I wish people would focus on is the issue of ENFORCEMENT. I see problems not only in the rental industry but also in the fairness related to business code compliance…as in some businesses are inspected and “asked” to comply while others never seem to be under scrutiny despite obvious violations.

Case in point, the Fawnskin Market which has been operational for years and years until it came under new ownership–it still isn’t open, nor is Hog’s Haven, or the Fawn Lodge. All entities have faced challenges. I know that across the lake several business owners are a bit frustrated by how business unfriendly the City of Big Bear Lake is…unless of course you are a contractor…

Where oh where could that GG be?

Hello, contrary to popular belief, I am still alive. This week has been very hectic. I’ve been crawling out early and crawling home late, hence the delinquency in posting. My computer doesn’t even remember me and my podcasts have disappeared…

I’ll be heading out to the desert next week but I’ve had a couple of people volunteer to help with my campaign for Mayor of Fawnskin. I need to get going on a few items but noticed a couple of smarta** comments made earlier.

The tradeshow wore me out but it was great to catch up with old colleagues and make some new buddies. NS Trading Company informed me that my brief appearance on the Today Show also made it to Countdown with Keith Olberman. “Things that make you go, hmmm.”

The spiders have taken over my deck and my home. This morning three new critters scurried away from me and I stumbled around the kitchen. I’ve noticed more winged insects after they disappeared for a bit. Not sure if fall is really here or if they think the place has been abandoned…

In Idaho, a fellow author has told me that it truly is heading into winter. RATS! I don’t have the wood in yet, nor have I finished projects meant for the summer and fall. I love the fall and spring–usually the winter, too. However, I am just not ready for the change yet.

The book publishing process has me slaving away on my new website and updating my old ones. Sheesh, it never stops. I also was reading, “If You Lived Here I’d Know Your Name” a small town journalist’s compendium of life in a small town in Alaska. It reminds me of this place. The bad thing is that I’ve been so busy that I had to return all the books I had hoped to be able to read since they’ve just been gathering dust. I’ll try again in a week or two.

I hope to amble into town soon–I am really feeling out of the loop. AND I need to hit up all my neighbors for campaign funds!

The Girl is Back in Town

GG is back in town. Can’t say that I am very energetic but I am back. I was in Las Vegas for the SuperZoo trade show. SuperZoo is a preview of new pet industry products. We had a great but exhausting time. Lots of products, visiting, and catching up.

We managed to find the time party at the top of Mandalay Bay at an exclusive event held by one of the vendors. Way back when, I knew the owners of the company. Anyway, I met some interesting people.

The House of Blues Foundation room (where the party was held) served some fabulous food. To get in you have to be invited and get past the guards. Upstairs the security team circulates throughout the perimeter of the affair. The technology in the casinos is pretty amazing and the amount of money being lost or won can be equally mind-boggling.

It was nice to be in the warmth of the desert and to have a nice selection of food and entertainment. The favorite food had to be the crepes in Paris and my favorite short jaunt was through Shark Reef.

Paris brought back memories of my living in the real city in France and sparked banter about differences throughout the world while Shark Reef brought up some stories from early in my career at Marineland in Palos Verdes…

I’ll be out and about tomorrow. So, I’ll catch up with you then and get you what scuttlebutt I can.
